ITINERARY

To start this great adventure of Salkantay trek, we will pick you up from the hotel at 4:30am.

Then we will travel in our mobility 2 hours to the town of Mollepata where we will have our light breakfast, after breakfast we will continue our journey to the community of Cruzpata where the cook, muleteers and mules will be waiting for us to carry our camping equipment.

We will walk 2 and a half hours to the community of Soraypampa, where we will spend the first night of the expedition and from this area it is possible to appreciate the spectacular scenery of the Humantay and Salkantay snow-capped mountains.

After lunch we will make a short hike to the Humantay lagoon (1 hour and 30 minutes of ascent) which is in the Salkantay trek circuit and today is one of the most famous attractions in Cusco.

ย

At 6 am we will have our breakfast, then we will start walking uphill until we reach the highest point of our expedition open Salkantay trek, just from where we will have stunning views of the glaciers of the Cordillera Vilcabamba, also from here you can see the high Amazon jungle full of flora and fauna of this ecological floor. From here we will start with the descent to Wayracpunku where we will have a short break for lunch.

Then, our trip will continue entering the high jungle, where we will observe the typical vegetation of tropical forest full of different types of trees and finally we will arrive to our next camp Chaullay.

After our succulent breakfast (6 am), we will begin our descent into the high jungle. Here we will be lucky enough to see different types of wild vegetation such as orchids, begonias, bromelas, timber trees and also domestic plantations of coffee, bananas, oranges and more. This part of our hike is one of the best stretches.

After 5 hours of long walk we will arrive at the small town of Playa, where we will have a short rest (lunch), later we will continue our walk towards the town of Santa Teresa, place of our next night of camping. In this town we will have enough time to explore and go to Cocalmayo thermal medicinal waters, excellent place to relax after an arduous hike and at night we will have a bonfire with all the members of the expedition.

The sunrise will be inside a tropical area full of history and nature, there our breakfast will be waiting for us ready to taste and then we will continue our journey towards Machu Picchu village.

To get to Machu Picchu town, it will take us approximately 7 hours, traveling by rail, passing through the hydroelectric plant, making stops in different places to appreciate the spectacular scenery and from our journey we can see at the top of the mountain to the great Inca city of Machu Picchu.

Overnight in a hotel in Machu Picchu Pueblo.

We will wake up at approximately 4:30 am and then begin to climb to the Inca city of Machu Picchu. It will take us approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, following an ascending path through the lush rainforest and we will have the opportunity to see the sunrise over the Inca city.

Our guided tour will last 2 hours and will take us through the most important points of this marvel. Afterwards, we will have free time to explore more on our own or to climb the Huaynapicchu, Machupicchu, Inti Punku or Inca bridge.

After all, we will start descending to the town of Aguas Calientes to head to the train station that will take us back to Ollantaytambo and there outside the train station our staff will be waiting for you to take you to Cusco city โ€“ hotel.
